Maison Ikkoku

Synopsis

A young man retaking the university entrance exams, Godai lives in the shabby boarding house Maison Ikkoku with a gallery of eccentric tenants — the gossip-happy Ichinose, the flirtatious Akemi Roppongi, the inscrutable Yotsuya and others whose raucous parties constantly disrupt his studying. When Kyoko, a recently widowed woman, arrives as the new live-in manager, Godai quietly falls for her but lacks the courage to confess his feelings. Against the backdrop of everyday chaos, misunderstandings and rival romantic entanglements, their tentative relationship gradually unfolds, tested by both comic mishaps and sincere moments of connection.
