Synopsis

Adapted from Cecil Bødker’s Danish children’s novel Silas og den sorte hoppe, Silas was a 1981 adventure miniseries produced by ZDF. Bødker continued to publish further Silas instalments through 2001. The show marked the screen debut of Patrick Bach, and its success led to his casting the following year in another youth adventure, Jack Holborn. Although Silas was produced and filmed entirely in German, it attracted attention beyond German-speaking territories, prompting Jack Holborn to involve international co‑producers and be shot in English.
