Synopsis
A young Austrian princess, Marie Antoinette, is sent to Versailles in a dynastic marriage to the future French king, a union meant to cement a fragile political alliance between rival courts. Surrounded by the gilded excesses of court life, she gives herself over to extravagant tastes and romantic distractions. When Louis XV dies and her husband ascends the throne as Louis XVI, her foreign origins and lavish lifestyle make her a target for popular outrage, turning royal indulgence into a lightning rod for public resentment.
