The Duel

Synopsis

Two young intellectuals in the 1890s are locked in a tense clash of character and conviction. Laevsky, a disillusioned clerk tormented by ignorance and the dullness of his existence, desperately seeks to break free from the corrupt routine that consumes him; his moral opposite, the naturalist Von Coren, is convinced that people like Laevsky ought to be eradicated. Yet despite their wills and desires, Providence moves their lives along a course of its own making.
