Synopsis
In the 1940s, after Franco’s victory in the Spanish Civil War, defeated Republican fighters slipped into the rugged mountains along Portugal’s northern border seeking refuge. Some locals saw them as dangerous brigands; others hid them, quietly providing food, shelter and intelligence to help them elude Salazar’s security forces. Caught between survival and conscience, their struggle turned them into shadowy legends known simply as the Outlaws.
