Is the movie The Territory available on Netflix, Disney+, Prime or Apple TV+?
At Stream Tracker, we’re taking a look at The Territory (2022), a tense, frontline documentary that follows the Uru-eu-wau-wau people as they defend their slice of the Amazon from illegal loggers, miners and land-grabbers — all against the backdrop of escalating deforestation and hostile national politics. Shot with urgent, up-close footage, the film puts the rainforest and its guardians at the centre of a story about survival, sovereignty and the global cost of lost trees. The Territory premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2022 and received festival recognition, including a Special Jury nod. In this article, we’ll check whether you can stream it on Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video or AppleTV+, and explain what makes this film a necessary watch for anyone concerned by Indigenous resistance and environmental collapse.
Synopsis
Contact with non-Indigenous Brazilians has left the Uru-eu-wau-wau community drastically reduced in number and fighting to preserve its way of life. Although they were guaranteed control of their rainforest lands, illegal logging and mining have repeatedly invaded their territory, and recent waves of land-grabbing — encouraged by right-wing leaders such as President Jair Bolsonaro — have intensified the assaults. As deforestation surges, the crisis transcends the tribe’s survival, threatening regional ecosystems and contributing to a planetary environmental emergency.
