Synopsis
In 1850, on the remote French isle of Saint-Pierre, a violent murder upends the small community. Two local fishermen are arrested; one, Louis Ollivier, dies in custody, while the other, Neel Auguste, is condemned to die by guillotine. The island is too small to house either the execution device or an executioner, so both must be summoned from elsewhere — and in the meantime Auguste remains under the watch of an army captain.
