Synopsis
Around 1250 BCE, at the close of the Bronze Age, rival powers edge toward open war. A Trojan prince named Paris persuades Helen, the queen of Sparta, to leave her husband Menelaus and sail with him back to Troy. Humiliated and enraged, Menelaus appeals to his brother Agamemnon, who seizes the chance to expand his influence. Together they assemble a vast armada—about a thousand ships carrying some fifty thousand Greek warriors—and set sail for Troy to recover Helen and assert their power.
