Synopsis
Set in Marseille in 1940, the series follows an improvised rescue network led by two Americans and a group of determined allies who work to shepherd artists, writers and other refugees out of Nazi-threatened Europe. Created by Anna Winger and Daniel Hendler and adapted from Julie Orringer’s 2019 novel The Flight Portfolio, this historical drama brings to life the Emergency Rescue Committee’s clandestine operations across France, Spain and Portugal after the fall of France. The story interweaves the lives of real-life intellectuals and artists who were aided by—or crossed paths with—the Committee. The show closed the 2023 Series Mania festival and premiered on Netflix on April 7, 2023.
