Synopsis
In the uneasy aftermath of the Cold War, a splintered Russian state armed with nuclear warheads becomes an international menace. Captain Frank Ramsey, commander of the nuclear submarine USS Alabama, brings aboard Lieutenant Commander Ron Hunter — a relatively inexperienced but highly recommended officer — as tensions mount. When Ramsey advocates a bold, confrontational approach that could trigger catastrophic consequences, Hunter fears the ship will ignite the very apocalypse it’s meant to prevent and sparks a risky bid to defy orders and avert disaster.
